Structural editing
This is big-picture stuff where we will look at the overarching structure of your piece and think about how it all hangs together.

Self-publishing guidance
Old-fashioned publishing deals are rare as hens’ teeth these days, but there are more alternatives than ever before. There are also a few pitfalls to be wary of. I can talk you through the process or project-manage your book from first draft to publication.

Copyediting
Sometimes called line editing, this is sentence-level editing to make sure your grammar, punctuation and word choice are all conveying the meaning you want them to. I can also update your resume and CV to fit that job description, and make sure your responses to key selection criteria are spot-on.

Proofreading
One of the last points before printing/publishing, this involves going over your work with a fine-toothed comb to make sure every comma is in the right place, all the margins and headings are consistent, images are placed correctly, etc, etc.

Manuscript assessment
Finished a first draft, or got a bit stuck along the way? A manuscript assessment is a great way to get an idea of what’s working well, and where there might be some issues.

Meet Kathryn
Although I am based in Melbourne, I work with clients all over the world. I love to meet clients face-to-face, but we can polish your project entirely online if that’s more convenient.
I have worked with first time authors and experienced writers, people who write for work and people who write for fun. I have rephrased resumes and honed horror stories.
I will work with you to make your written work better. It could be with a structural edit of an early draft, an in-depth proofread before you go to print, or anything in between. I can also help you improve your writing for next time around – I don’t just fix errors, I make suggestions and show you easy ways to remember and avoid common pitfalls.
